Gizem Rufo and I spoke at Oculus Connect 6 in 2019 about how developers can leverage techniques from experimental psychology and psychophysics to improve the design of AR/VR apps, experiences, and games.

At ACM UIST 2025, Sam Levulis presented the results of a collaboration between UX Research, Display Systems Research, and Applied Perception Science showing that subthreshold jitter in VR can induce visual discomfort.




At IEEE ISMAR 2023, Hope Lutwak presented data from her internship showing that user self-motion modulates the perceptibility of jitter in AR HMDs.

At IEEE ISMAR 2022, I presented data from James Wilmott's internship that quantified users' perceptual sensitivity to a fundamental spatiotemporal error (jitter) for world-locked objects in see-through AR.
